Enjoying your own company - Cafe Counsel

Sometimes it’s best to spend some quality time with the world’s most important person, yourself. The more time you spend alone, the more comfortable you become in your own skin because you can truly get to know yourself. This provides you with more patience to accept yourself as who you are, where your life is taking you, on a constant basis. And if you are already enjoying your soul company then let us tell you the sense of independence and the feeling of fulfilment can be more promising and rewarding. The trend for temporary isolation has become so popular that no one takes it as a negative thing these days. It no more means you’re anti-social or unwanted, but a person who can survive his or her own company. Once you learn to enjoy being alone, you’re going to grow as a person. There are a handful of benefits that emerge once you learn to embrace solitude.

Get to refresh yourself

When you’re surrounded by other people or when you take the effort of mingling around with others, you are spending a lot of energy. Striking conversation, making them feel comfortable, making them laugh and all of the other rigors that comes along with regular interaction. And all that can be overwhelming and exhausting physically and mentally draining if you are constantly connected to different people. A little lone time with yourself lets you recharge and take a break from the strenuous job of constant interaction.

Get to reflect more often

Your life is always moving at a fast pace. So fast in fact, that it’s probably rare when you have time to sit alone and reflect on your life. Being alone gives you that perfect opportunity for a little self reflection. Since you aren’t spending so much time processing the thoughts and feelings of others, it’s the best time to turn your focus inwards. Solitude provides the perfect environment for reflection. When you start to enjoy being alone, you’ll gain a greater perspective for your own emotions too. You’ll create a deeper understanding of what makes you happy and what saddens you.

Get to do things you actually enjoy

What if you are not the one who enjoys pub hopping on weekends or watching movies in a group isn’t your thing? Well then you got to do activities that you love all by yourself. When you’re constantly in the company of other people, you’re always making compromises in order to find solutions that the entire group can enjoy. And unfortunately, the things you want most, may not always line up with what the group wants. So it’s better to indulge in activities like catching up the latest play or pursuing your hobby or a short trip during the weekend will actually leave you more pumped up and give you a sense of freedom.

Get to be more independent

Once you start enjoying your company, you’ll feel more confident in your ability to actually be alone. And that naturally leads to you feeling more independent. Once you do activities like taking solo trips, solo dining or even been partying solo, you’ll no longer feel that anxiety or absolute necessity for company. You won’t feel the need for constant interaction with other people, or the anxiety associated with looking around and seeing no one but yourself.
